Most of my poetry thus far has been written in the first person. Sometimes this is because I have had the experience, sometimes because I would like to have the experience, and sometimes because someone I know is having the experience and I attempt to capture their perspective by imagining myself in their shoes. I will leave you to guess which poems are which!
Ingrid Michelson
I find Ingrid to be an incredible songwriter. She paints pictures with her words and I fall into them. Although I don't relate specifically to the pain she describes in "So Long" or "Sort of" it is so easy to imagine precisely how she feels. I admire that in a poet...when they can pull me in and make me grieve something I have never endured.
Well done Ingrid.

My Blog
The purpose of my blog is to communicate Truth; the wrestling with and tension between pain, love, suffering and liberation.
Spiritual thought
God hears and answers prayers. When you are too weak to pray, someone else can and will utter them on your behalf. God's plan is to prosper you, not to harm you. He has the perfect perspective and loves you beyond your ability to comprehend.
Consider the lilies of the field...they neither toil nor spin, yet Solomon in all his glory was never arranged like them.
Fear not, for I am with you.
My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
Like a Mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.
The power of God is not of fear, but of strength and of power and a sound mind.
In this world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
All things work together for good for those who are called according to His purpose.
Faith, Hope, Love and the greatest of these is Love.
Love your neighbor as thyself...

On Forgiveness
This is amazing. Corrie Ten Boom was instrumental in aiding persecuted Jews in Holland during the holocaust. In her book, The Hiding Place, she speaks on forgiveness and how the victory comes. She is speaking about a german soldier who guarded her at the concentration camp that she saw again after the war. Jesus, I cannot forgive him. Give me Your forgivcness. And as I took his hand the most incredible thing happened. From my shoulder along my arm and through my hand a current seemed to pass from me to him, while into my heart sprang a love for this stranger that almost overwhelmed me. And so I discovered that it is not on our forgiveness any more than on our goodness that the world's healing hinges, but on His. When He tells us to love our enemies, He gives, along with the command, the love itself."
Scriptural Thought for the Day!
Romans 8:35-39
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded , that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord."
How comforting to know that regardless of the trials I am going through, the Lord and I cannot be separated! If I have Him alone and through terrible times must go, I can make it through. I must strive to remember that any separation I feel is false and comes from me and the adversary. He is always there with His hand reached out still. How sweet and beautiful the world becomes no matter what I am going through when I look at it through that perspective. And perspective is always a choice. Today, I am choosing to bask in the truth and be illuminated by it! How spectacular it is!
